Holiday preparation guide

The arrival of the holidays is synonymous with warm moments spent with family and friends, but it also means that your home will be the scene of gatherings and festivities. To ensure that everything goes smoothly and that you can welcome your guests into a clean and welcoming space, preparation is essential. Here's a holiday prep guide to help you organize your space and prepare your home for guests.

1 | Establish a cleaning plan

Before you start cleaning, draw up a detailed plan. Identify priority areas, such as the living room, kitchen, bathroom and dining room. Also consider outdoor areas if you're planning outdoor activities. Above all, don't put too much on your shoulders. This is a time for well-being, rest and rejuvenation.

2 | Declutter and organize

Decluttering is the key to organization. Let go of unnecessary objects, tidy up items lying around and make sure everything has its place. This will free up space and make cleaning easier. You can also get your family members involved. It might even bring back memories!

3 | Deep cleaning

Freeing up space also involves a cleaning process. This is an excellent opportunity to purify your surroundings using a damp cloth with this recipe below, which will bring a fresh scent and woody notes.

-

  • Large hot water boiler

  • 1/2 t baking soda

  • 1/2 cup vinegar

  • ten drops of tea tree essential oil

-

4 | Refresh your fabrics

  • Change sheets and pillowcases for fresh, clean rooms

  • Add an extra blanket or comforter for added warmth and comfort for your guests ;)

  • Use a beautiful tablecloth to dress up the table in a festive way. (This is also a good time to ask yourself whether it would be a good idea to sort out the tablecloths).

  • Vacuum all carpets to clean them and add a sanitizing mist to freshen them up.

5 | Make sure your kitchen is ready

The kitchen is often the heart of the home during the holidays. Give your refrigerator, oven, microwave and countertops a thorough cleaning. Make sure you have enough cooking utensils, dishes and glasses for your guests.

6 | Create welcome zones

Organize reception areas for your guests, such as a checkroom for their coats and a welcome corner with drinks and snacks.
